Working in the Square Mile

The City has its own rules. We work to them.

The City of London packs hundreds of thousands of workers into just over one square mile. That makes waste a logistics problem as much as a disposal one: narrow lanes, red routes, shared loading bays and buildings that won’t let bags sit on the pavement.

On many City streets, waste can only go out for collection during set time windows. We plan collections around those windows and your building’s own rules, so your waste goes straight from the bin store onto the vehicle.

What that means for you

  • Collections booked around your loading bay and goods lift
  • No bags left on the street outside your time window
  • One supplier for collections, clearances and bin store cleaning
  • Transfer notes and recycling records for every collection

Trusted in the City

We already work inside the Square Mile

Our clients include two of the City’s best-known towers, 30 St Mary Axe and Tower 42, alongside brands like WeWork, Regus and Unilever.

EC3A

30 St Mary Axe

One of the City’s most recognisable buildings, run to exacting standards for access, timing and paperwork.

EC2N

Tower 42

A busy multi-tenant tower on Old Broad Street, where waste has to move without disrupting occupiers.

Simpler Recycling: what City businesses must do now

Since 31 March 2025, workplaces in England with 10 or more full-time-equivalent staff must keep dry recycling (paper and card, plastic, metal and glass) and food waste separate from general waste and have them collected separately. Micro-firms with fewer than 10 staff have until 31 March 2027.

We set up separate streams, label the bins with you and give you the paperwork to show it. Read our plain-English guide.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Which postcodes count as the City of London?

The City of London is mostly covered by EC2, EC3 and EC4, with parts of EC1 (such as Smithfield and the Barbican). We cover all of these, plus the streets just outside the City boundary.

Can I put a skip outside my building in the City?

A skip on the road needs a licence from the City of London Corporation, and many City streets simply don’t have room. Our wait-and-load service is usually faster: we park, load and leave, with no permit needed.

Do you work with building managers as well as tenants?

Yes. We work for facilities managers who need one supplier for a whole building, and for individual tenants who just need their own waste collected.

Do you also do domestic work in the City?

Yes. We clear flats and remove rubbish for residents of the Barbican, Golden Lane and Middlesex Street estates and across the City’s other residential pockets. See rubbish removal.
