Why wait-and-load

Skips and the City don’t mix well

A skip on the public highway in the City needs a licence from the City of London Corporation, and on many streets there is simply nowhere to put one.

Load and leave

The tipper arrives at the loading bay or kerb, your waste goes straight on, and the vehicle leaves when it’s full. Nothing is left on the street.

Visits that follow the programme

Book one visit for a strip-out weekend, or regular visits through the fit-out so waste never piles up on the floor plate.

Fits the loading bay

We work to the building’s loading bay slots and goods lift bookings, which a skip exchange can’t always do.

What we remove

From soft strip to final snagging

Cat A and Cat B fit-outs

Offcuts of plasterboard, metal stud, ceiling tiles, packaging from furniture and fittings, and the general waste every trade leaves behind.

Strip-outs

Old partitions, ceiling grid, raised floor tiles, carpet tiles, kitchens and redundant services from a soft strip before the new scheme goes in.

Builders’ waste

Mixed waste from smaller works, refurbishments and maintenance projects, bagged or loose.

Separated materials

Metal, timber, cardboard and plasterboard kept apart on site where you can, so more is recycled and you have better figures for the project.

Working with contractors

A waste removal plan your site manager can rely on

We work for main contractors, fit-out specialists and facilities teams. Tell us the programme, the building’s rules and who to call on the day, and we’ll book visits to match.

If the programme moves, tell us and we’ll move with it. Extra visits can be added when a strip-out produces more than expected.

  • Waste transfer notes for each loadReady for your site waste records and the client’s sustainability reporting.
  • Crew that loadsWe load the waste ourselves from the agreed collection point, so your trades can keep working.
  • Building rules respectedInductions, permits to work, lift protection and loading bay slots handled in advance.

Asbestos and hazardous materials

We don’t remove asbestos or hazardous construction waste. If you suspect asbestos, stop work and get it surveyed. We’ll refer you to a licensed specialist and carry on with the rest of the waste once the area is cleared.

Paint, solvents, adhesives and other chemicals also need a specialist route. Keep them out of the waste we collect.

Your duty of care, in plain English

Every business that produces waste has a legal duty of care: store it securely, hand it only to a registered waste carrier, and record the transfer with a waste transfer note describing what the waste is. Keep those notes for at least two years.

We give you a waste transfer note for every job. Our guide to waste transfer notes explains what one should contain and what to do if a supplier can’t produce one.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Do I need a licence for a skip in the City of London?

Yes. A skip placed on the public highway in the City needs a licence from the City of London Corporation, and space is very limited. Wait-and-load avoids that because nothing is left on the street.

How does wait-and-load work?

We arrive at the agreed time, load your waste into our caged tipper from the collection point and leave. You pay for the visit and the volume, not for a skip sitting on site.

Can you work at night or at weekends?

If the building and your programme allow it, yes. Strip-outs in occupied buildings often happen out of hours, and we plan visits to suit.

Do you take plasterboard?

Yes. Keep it separate from other waste where you can, because gypsum is recycled separately and shouldn’t be mixed with general waste.

Do you remove asbestos?

No. Asbestos must be handled by a licensed specialist. If you find or suspect it, stop work and we’ll refer you to one.
